摘要

To control air pollution associated with motor vehicles, Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration has developed several control measures both for in-use vehicles, such as adoption of stringent emission standard, promotion of clean vehicles, and several command-and-control measures. Because of the most frequent occurrence of episode days in southern Taiwan air basin, these measures are developed and expected to be implemented in this air basin in the coming future. A discussion covers the candidate control measures for in-use gasoline vehicles, i.e., passenger car, taxi, and light-duty gasoline truck; control measures for these vehicles based on emission reduction potential and cost-effectiveness; incentive program; and remote sensing program. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 98th AWMA Annual Conference and Exhibition (Minneapolis, MN 6/21-24/2005).
