In this paper, we investigate a new acquisition method to save processing time and quickly find the GPS satellite with high receiving power. Most of the conventional acquisition methods process one satellite, and establish the same searching space for each satellite to find the correlation peak. The idea of this proposed method is to combine two or more C/A codes to process acquisition. This new method will change the procedure of conventional FFT acquisition slightly, and it has capabilities to combine with other acquisition methods to do signal acquisition at same time. This multi-C/A code acquisition method can save processing time through processing the real raw IF data from a GPS software receiver, and it can find the satellite with high receiving power rapidly. When summing more C/A codes, it will save more processing time, however, it will reduce the processing performance at the same time. This paper therefore conducts a trade-off study to balance the performance and the processing time.
