Autonomous flight verification for mission unmanned aerial vehicle

摘要

A fast development in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has made wind tunnel test impractical to obtain aerodynamic data for autopilot flight control design. To save developing time and cost, flight simulation software is used to calculate the aerodynamic data from some fight test data with theoretical analysis supports. JSBSim and FlightGear are selected in this research. The main objective for this study will design and implement an autonomous flight control system onto UAV by integrating GPS and communication modem into open source autopilot flight control. Paparazzi flight controller is the most convenience one for use in this research. Considering the stability and safety requirements, a simulation system determines the initial gains for the flight stability. Based on a prototype design of the mission UAV, this study supports the system verification by waypoint navigation and path planning. From simulations, the initial flight control can be settled. Test flights are carried out by adjusting control gains to improve autopilot into best performance.
