摘要

The methanol spray combustion in a laboratory-scale combustor was experimentally studied in the present study, especially for the effect of the water content in methanol on the flame phenomena. The results showed that as the water content in the fuel mixture was less than 10%, and the flames can be sustained stably. The appearance of the flames was not significantly different for various water contents in the fuel mixture. However, the flame length was reduced by increasing water contents, but there was no apparent change in the flame lift-off height. The exergy efficiency was in the range of 18%-21%. In addition, near flame extinction, the increase of specific exergy destruction can be found. As the water content in the fuel mixtures was increased by 10%, the exergy efficiency reasonably decreased by 9.98%, but the thermal efficiency reduced by 26.61%.
