摘要

This paper explores experimentally the composite second-order (CSO) and composite triple-beat (CTB) parameters of the cascaded system of an externally modulated optical transmitter and a directly modulated optical transmitter. We show that the worst case and the best case for fiber-optic cable television cascaded systems are the “15 log" rule and the “2 log” rule for the cascaded CSO value and the “20 log” rule and the “2 log” rule for the cascaded CTB value, respectively. The 15 log and 20 log rules may be changed to the “ X log" rule (X < 15) for some specific frequencies or channels.
