The processes of inward solidification occuring in slabs, cylinders, and spheres bounded by finite wall, subject to convective boundary condition at the outer surface, is studied numerically. The method of cubic spline collocation is employed to solve the set of governing equations. Numerical predictions of the duration of solidification process are functions of several controlling dimensionless parameters of the system. Comparison is made with the same problem without wall effect.
