摘要

Mycorrhiza is one of the most important symbiosis for nutrient exchange between fungi and plants where fungi supply mineral nutrients including nitrogen (N) and phosphorous (P) to plants and receive photosynthetically fixed carbon (C) from plant hosts as a reward. In nature, plants gain as much as 80% of mineral nutrient requirements from mycorrhizal fungi which form association with the roots of over 90 % of all plant species. The seeds of Orchidaceae, the largest family of flowering plants, lack endosperms and contain very limited food reserves. The symbiosis with mycorrhizal fungi which form endomycorrhizas is essential for orchid seed germination and protocorm development. With rapid technological advances of next-generation sequencing (NGS), the identification of molecular mechanisms and genes involved in the interplay between orchid and mycorrhizal fungi has become more attention. We aim to update and summarize the current knowledge of the mechanisms on orchid-fungal symbiosis and the main focus will be on the nutrient exchange between orchids and their fungal partners.
