Design and fabrication of multi-microelectrode array with SAMs surface modification for neural prosthesis

摘要

A design multi-polar spiral cuff electrode, composed of self-assembled monolayers (SAM) treated gold electrodes and flexible polyimide substrate, was fabricated and evaluated. Biocompatible polyimide and Au were used as the materials of microelectrode in order to improve the biocompatibility. An increase of water contact angle of SAMs treated surfaces was observed. The results of x ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) demonstrate that the C1s and S2p signal on the electrode surface, indicating the formation of SAMs on electrode surface.
