Design and test of a 3D printed acoustic fresnel lens

摘要

Focused ultrasound has a variety of applications. High-intensity ultrasound is becoming a common tool in medicine for non-invasive interventions such as tissue ablation of cancer tumors. Low intensity focused acoustic waves can also be employed for other applications such as tissue stimulation, particle tweezing or imaging. In this work a preliminary study on the focusing properties of 3D printed acoustic lenses based on Fresnel zone plate theory was done. A finite element model was used to validate the design. A design was fabricated by means of 3D printing. Two measurement setups are were used to characterize the acoustic properties of the lens. Good qualitative agreement is observed between simulation and measurement data.
