title = "Development of a management strategy based on in-situ observation for Agondian Reservoir",
abstract = "Agondian Reservoir with a design storage capacity of 20.5×106 m3 has been operated since 1953. The storage capacity reduced to 5.9×106 m3 in 1991. In order to restore the flood protection function and solve the sedimentation problem, a reservoir renewal project was carried out from 1997 to 2005. An integrated management strategy of hydraulic flushing and sediment routing has been taken to reduce sedimentation by flood events for sustainale development. About 30% to 50% of inflow sediment by a heavy rain event could be released. The storage water elevation and the flood control operation have influence on the desiltation efficiency. This study give suggestions of flood control operation to promote desiltaion efficiency according to the results of sediment transport survey by heavy rain events. The sediment reduction could be then ensured, and various functions of the Agondian Reservoir could be balanced.",
