The mature technique for producing full scale fluid dampers has been achieved in Taiwan. The paper describes the process and introduces the required tests in the developing procedure. The tested dampers with capacity up to 50 ton, 80 ton and 120 ton are performed by the required tests including durability test, fatigue and wear test, environmental aging test, dynamic performance characteristics at temperature extremes, frequency dependent characteristics, failure test and the cyclic dynamic performance test. The five tested fluid dampers passed the test with satisfied results. It is believed that there is no problem to produce qualified fluid damper in Taiwan, locally, and the produced dampers can be allocated on the real structures for the aseismatic engineering purposes.
