摘要

This paper investigates the response of square foundations subject to vertical and horizontal excitations using the frequency domain boundary element method. The vibration response of foundation is expressed in the form of dynamic flexibility. Key parameters of the vibration response are investigated. Including Poisson's ratio, material damping ratio, and foundation embedment, the study shows that the effect of Poisson's ratio on the vertical mode of vibration is more significant than that on the horizontal mode of vibration. The effect of material damping ratio is insignificant on both modes of vibration. However, it can reduce the resonance amplitudes. The deeper the embeddment of foundation is the less dynamic flexibility of both vertical and horizontal modes of vibration will be.
