T1 - Effects of blank design on the electromagnetic flanging process

N2 - This paper evaluates the possibility of blank design and process design for shell flanging of the mobile phone and examines the variation of electromagnetic parameters in the flanging process. Aluminium alloy AA6061 T6 was used to simulate the electromagnetic forming process. The influence of magnetic force on the deformed workpiece was then studied by a manual iteration method. From comparison of simulation and experiment, it was evident that the deformation of the workpiece in the forming process had a significant effect on the electromagnetic force. Moreover, owing to the insufficient electromagnetic force and excessive fillet, the workpiece with preform had a better flanging result than the workpiece without preform.
