Electrochemical behavior of gold electrodeposits with and without organic compounds in KOH

摘要

The electrochemical behavior of pure gold and gold deposited titanium electrodes are investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) techniques with and without the addition of organics in KOH solutions. CV results reveal that oxygen evolves after the surface saturation with OH/OH-, while organic compounds oxidize in the presence of various Au-OH complexes before the formation of hydroxyl monolayer. LSV results show that benzaldehyde, benzyl alcohol, and ethanol oxidize in the potential range of -0.8 to 0.2 V, - 0.6 to 0.2 V, and - 0.2 to 0.2 V, respectively.
