摘要

This chapter discusses the concept of neoliberal governmentality in producing subjectivity in a network society, followed by a discussion of the project of neoliberalization through China in Taiwan. This neoliberal thought articulates with the KMT’s authoritarian philosophy as well as with Communist China’s political strategy in using traditional Chinese culture as an economic resource to unify with Taiwan. Through neoliberal globalization, today, US-style neoliberalism articulates with Taiwan’s unique authoritarian development, and since 2008, with Taiwan’s neoliberalization through China project. A brief account of the history of Taiwan is needed in order to delineate the particular type of political-economic formation that led to the revival of the KMT authoritarian regime and its project of neoliberalization through China. This ʼneoliberalization through China’ economic policy also worked politically for the revival of the KMT’s authoritarian rule.
