N2 - Two sets of animal study were performed on the dorsal full-thickness skin wounds of guinea pigs to evaluate the efficacy of series of engineered scaffolds derived from porcine dermis. A porous collagen matrix incorporated with hyaluronan (PCHM) was developed and proved to heal full-thickness skin wounds with indistinguishable collagen architecture from the normal peripheral dermis. A second set of animal study aiming at investigating the efficacy of combination of bFGF and PCHM on wound healing concluded that PCHM-bFGF further improved angiogenesis and fibroplasias in the wound sites and greatly enhanced the regeneration of skin.
