abstract = "Early gingivitis is difficult to assess by visual observation. We found that the tissue chromophore values derived from our diffuse reflectance spectroscopy system had a greater advantage over the conventional 2-wavelength reflectance ratio method. In this research, the reflectance and absorption spectra were acquired from 28 healthy sites and 11 gingivitisinfected sites in 8 volunteer patients with illumination of the tungsten halogen lamps. Our results demonstrated that the method of chromophore values outperformed the 2-wavelength reflectance ratio method and gave a sensitivity of 64% and a specificity of 86%.",
