摘要

We designed an animal study (pigs) for evaluating the adhesions from created peritoneal defects following laparoscopic surgery in the National Cheng Kung University Hospital. The second-look laparotomy was performed 3-6 weeks later. In the group with peritoneal defects left open, 22% (2/9) of the pigs were in grade 1 adhesion. In the group with peritoneal defects repaired with staples, 11% (1/9) of the pigs were in grade 1 adhesion. However, no significant difference in adhesions was noted between these two groups (p > 0.05). We concluded that for reducing postoperative pelvic adhesions and saving operation time, repairing the large peritoneal defect remaining from laparoscopic surgery (LAVH or LH) is not necessary.
