N2 - Fine structure of copper in the ashes of printed circuit board (PCB) wastes gasification has been studied by X-ray absorption (XAS) spectroscopy. Existence of the Cu(I) and Cu(II) species in ash was confirmed by the preedge X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopy. By the extended X-ray absorption fine structural (EXAFS) spectra, primarily Cu-O (1.92 angstroms) and Cu-Cu (2.75 angstroms) were observed in the ash with coordinated numbers of 2.1 and 4.2, respectively.
