N2 - Continuous media, e.g., video, that are transmitted in mobile personal communication systems (PCSs) should be in the compressed format, e.g., the MPEG format, in order to reduce the bandwidth requirement. The corresponding handoff architectures and protocols are thus different from the traditional ones, which are for transmitting uncompressed media. In this paper, we present several handoff architectures and protocols to resolve the associated handoff issues for transmitting compressed multimedia information.
