High spin molecules: [Mn12O12(O2CCH2Cl)16(H2O)4] and the one-electron reduction product [PPh4][Mn12O12(O2CCH2Cl)16(H2O)3]

摘要

The complex of [Mn12O12(O2CCH2Cl)16(H2O)4] was reduced by PPh4I to give a reduced complex [PPh4][Mn12O12-(O2CCH2Cl)16(H2O)3]. Crystal structures of both complexes were determined by the X-ray method. The dc magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that the neutral and reduced complexes are high spin species.
