N2 - A multidrug-resistant plasmid encoding TEM-1, SHV-12, and a variant of IMP-2 metallo-β-lactamase, designated IMP-8, was identified from a clinical isolate of Klebsiella pneumoniae. There are four nucleotide differences between blaIMP-2 and blaIMP-8, resulting in two amino acid differences. blaIMP-8 was also found to be carried by an integron-borne gene cassette similar to the blaIMP-2 cassette.
