Immobilization of C. elegans in liquid using 3d-electrode dielectrophoresis

摘要

This paper reports that 3D electrodes made of C-PDMS in microfluidic environment work well in the immobilization of C. elegans by dielectrophoresis (DEP) force. Previously, Chuang et al.1 realized trapping of C. elegans by DEP with planar electrodes; recently, Marchalot2 has prove d that thick electrodes present a great advantage over planar electrodes in thick channel, as there was no degradation of electric field for the former. Therefore, we fabricated 3D electrodes by C-PDMS, and this low-cost and easy-to-make-and-use 3D electrodes centered microfluidic device provides an enabling platform to immobilize C. elegans e ffectively in liquid in microfluidic environment.
