N2 - The smart grid is a new electric power industry service that combines information technology and telecommunications, where the home grid plays an important part. A set of reliable transmission protocol combined with appliance recognition and intelligent home control service will be indispensable to the home grid. This study proposed a transmission protocol with two-way recognition and control service for a home grid. Based on this transmission protocol, a user plugs in a household appliance into a wall socket and then smart meter reads the electronic energy information. When this information is captured, the features of electrical appliances are transferred to the home energy management platform through the power line or wireless communications interface. The home energy management platform automatically classifies the electronic energy features of different appliances to identify them, which is then used to build a control list of electric appliances on the management platform, thus, achieve automation services with appliance intercommunication. This transmission mechanism can be built in the real-time electronic appliance interconnecting recognition and control service of the home grid. This paper presents the results of this research.
