Investigation of an open cavity on transonic convex-corner flows

摘要

An experimental investigation is conducted to study the effect of an upstream open cavity on subsonic and transonic expansion-corner flows. The mean static pressure distributions at Mw = 0.64 and 0.83 indicate that presence of the upstream cavity has a more pronounced effect on subsonic expansion flow. For an extensive by separated transonic expansion flow, the influence of the upstream cavity is minimized on the mean pressure distributions. Unsteadiness of the interaction can be characterized through the pressure fluctuation distributions. A larger local peak fluctuating pressure and equilibrium levels of pressure fluctuations at further downstream location are observed. The effect of the relative position of the cavity for the transonic expansion flows depends on status of the boundary layer.
