N2 - The ultimate goal of realistic graphics is the creation of images that provoke the same responses that a viewer would have to a real scene. In the field of computer graphics, one related key problem is the issue of displaying radiant intensities in a meaningful way. The paper proposed an efficient local contrast enhancement algorithm by histogram equalization and histogram stretching method. The algorithm also combines the tone mapping to fix high Contrast Scene Images. Experimental results have shown that it produces low dynamic range images with perceptually good quality and strong detail preservation. These strong experimental results warrant further exploration of the potential of this algorithm.
