Measurements of the speciation of ozone precursor from Kaoping petrochemical/industrial area in Taiwan

摘要

The vertical distribution of non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHC) and VOC concentration at a petrochemical/industrial area in Kaoping, Taiwan, were measured via vertical profile sampling. High concentrations of NMHC and ethylene at l00 m altitude were observed. The emission sources should be related to the unusual emission of waste-gas flare containing ethylene process. NMHC emission from waste-gas flare should be considered to estimate the exact emission sources at the petrochemical/industrial area. A lot of high photochemical ozone creation potential VOC species were detected in ambient, and the maximum concentration exceeded 50 ppb, including ethylene, methyl-cyclopentane, toluene, ethylbenzene, and 2,4-dimethylpentane. These VOC species should be related to the high concentration of local ozone pollution occurred at the petrochemical/industrial area. Most of the detected VOC species from this measurement was neglected by the emission database of Taiwan EPA.
