N2 - This study investigates how I-52 and I-152 weld metals influence the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of alloy 690 weldments. Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and shield metal arc welding (SMAW) processes were employed with three-layer multi-pass welding. Experimental results showed the subgrain structures of the welds are mainly dendritic structures. The I-152 weld had a finer subgrain structure and a smaller dendritic spacing than the I-52. Mechanical test results demonstrated that the I-152 weldment had higher tensile strength and higher hardness. However, the intergranular cracking (IGC) resistance of the I-152 weld was worse than that of the I-52. Furthermore, a gradual increase in the hardness and percentage elongation of the I-52 welds was observed with an increase in the number of passes during welding.
