Modal parameter identification from ambient response

An effective identification method has been developed to determine the modal parameters of a structure from its measured ambient response data. The method combines Ibrahim et al. time-domain method and the correlation technique. Numerical simulations using a seven-degree-of-freedom (DOF) linear system confirmed that the method is effective in identifying complex modes even with close frequencies and is robust to measurement noise.
