On the performance of the successive interference canceler for DS/CDMA signals

摘要

We investigate the steady-state properties of the adaptive successive interference canceler (ASIC) for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) signals. The ASIC is a multistage structure that sequentially detects and removes cochannel users from the received signal impinging on a single antenna element. In order to reliably remove a user, the corresponding multiple access interference (MAI) must be regenerated and subtracted from the received signal. This requires an accurate estimate of the user's signal amplitude, which is provided by an adaptive weight that is updated at the chip rate.
