摘要
The evolution of the RMS characteristics of a chirped return-to-zero (CRZ) pulse was examined as a function of transmission distance. The results are shown to be good predictors of the pulse evolution for a wide range of wavelengths. In particular, the theory was used to determine the optimal prechirping producing minimum RMS pulse time-bandwidth product at the receiver location. It is believed that the theory provides a convenient tool for quickly exploring the parameter space associated with CRZ pulses.
