摘要

This is a case report of an unusual aneurysm of the anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA). A 60-year-old male experienced acute onset of severe occipital headache during strenuous exercise, followed by neck stiffness, vertigo and a roaring sound in the left ear. Neurological examination revealed dysfunction of the sixth to eleventh cranial nerves on the left side. Along with computed tomographic (CT) scan of the head, two attempts at four-vessel angiography were required before a partially thrombosed aneurysm of the AICA could be clearly demonstrated; this was later clipped with favorable results. Clinical manifestations, radiological findings and surgical procedures as well as results of the treatment will be discussed.
