The application of the percolation approach to analyze the degree of interconnection within fractured rocks is presented. Based on the percolation process, a three-dimensional discrete fracture model with parameters of fracture geometry, was developed to investigate the relationships between connectivity and percolation factor and percolation frequency. Numerical simulations show that the percolation threshold and the critical percolation frequency lie within the range of 0.9 to 2.4 and 0.22 to 0.56, respectively, for orthogonal fracture sets. In addition, three fracture system models were used to estimate the values of fracture porosity and fracture permeability. These values compare favorably with those measured at the Stripa site.
