Performance prediction of highway bridges using fuzzy regression models

摘要

Desirable performance of bridges is the principal issue of bridge safety. The performance of existing bridges and the prediction of their future conditions is an essence of great concern to bridge managers. Therefore, an accurate and reliable prediction of bridge performance has become a primarily important task for the bridge maintenance manager. In this paper, a multiple fuzzy regression model for the estimation of bridge performance and deterioration is presented. A case study based on bridge inspection data from the Sun Yat-Sen Freeway in Taiwan is performed to examine the variables contributing to bridge future conditions by using this proposed model. The results demonstrate the effectiveness and capability of this model, which can be used to assist bridge managers to obtain better prediction results.
