N2 - The statistical mechanics of the quasi-one-dimensional system of DNA is studied with the Morse and Deng-Fan potentials for the interstrand hydrogen bonds of nucleotide pairs. The intrastrand interactions between nucleotides are characterized by a simple harmonic potential in which the coupling strength has a significant effect on the phase transition of the DNA system.
