N2 - Ground-based Lidar has been widely employed in terrestrial survey because of its superior geometric ability, i.e., high quality and high density point cloud for 3D scene. However, its radiometric capability has not been fully exploited, partly because of the undisclosed conversion equation from digital numbers (intensity values collected by lidar) to absolute radiometric values by the manufacturers. In this paper, we first examine the point cloud collected by Optech ILRIS3D, characterize its radiometric property, and finally make suggestions for using this kind of data for classification.
