Predictive antenna tracking using complex controller

A stepper motor controlled tracking system is designed for microwave air bridging (MAB) for special communication antenna alignment under dynamic environment. Quick decision making on step changes leads to a successful system control. However, on aiming at the target, unstable problems may happen to the mechanics in oscillation. To improve the drawback, this paper presents a complex controller design by integrating a Fuzzy Neural Network Controller (FNNC) with a Proportional- Derivative Controller (PDC) to achieve fast step decision and stabilize to aim at the target. System design and performance is examined by simulations with support of real flight test verifications. The proposed complex controller achieves the goal for fast and accurate antenna tracking control on GPS-to-GPS basis.
