摘要
Waste solar cells, also known as end-of-life solar cells or photovoltaic (PV) waste, refer to discarded or damaged solar panels that have reached the end of their operational lifespan or are no longer functional. With the rapid growth of the solar energy industry, the need for effective recycling techniques for waste solar cells has become increasingly important. Typical recycling techniques for these cells involve several steps. First, the panels are collected and sorted to separate different materials, such as glass, silicon, metals, and plastics. Then, the individual components are processed using various methods, including mechanical shredding, thermal treatment, and chemical separation, to recover valuable materials like silicon wafers, metals, and glass. In this chapter, the introduction of different types of solar cells, the situation of waste solar cells, and the recycling techniques of four different solar cells (Crystalline-silicon (c-Si) solar cells, CIGS Solar cells, CdTe Solar cells, and perovskite solar cells) are demonstrated. Recycling aims to minimize environmental impact, conserve resources, and promote a circular economy by reusing materials from discarded solar panels.
