Regeneration of microwave carriers using optically injected semiconductor lasers for Doppler-insensitive homodyne detection in OFDM-RoF links

摘要

This study investigates an optically injected semiconductor laser to regenerate the microwave carrier of an OFDM-RoF signal and use it as a microwave local oscillator for homodyne detection that is insensitive to the Doppler frequency shift effect. A bit-error ratio of 10 {-11} is achieved for a 28-GHz OFDM-RoF signal carrying 4 Gb/s 16-QAM data under a relative moving velocity of up to 3850 km/h. This all-optical system is capable of operation up to at least 100 GHz.
