Resistive and magnetic anomalies in the Bi-Sr-V-O and Tl-Sr-V-O compound systems

Resistive drops and apparent DC "diamagnetic" shifts at temperatures up to 150 K, usually suggestive of a superconductive transition, have been observed in the reduced SrVO3-δ system doped with Bi and Tl. Unfortunately, detailed examinations reveal that such anomalies are magnetic in Origin. It is, therefore, concluded that the exosting results of either Hitachi of Houston are not sufficient for any claim of high-temperature superconductivity above 10 K in more than 0.2% volume fraction of the Bi-Sr-V-O or Tl-Sr-V-O system. However, the possibility of superconductivity near 5 K in these systems cannot be completely ruled out at the present time.
