Serial clinical, light- and electron-microscopic changes of penile squamous cell carcinoma after intra-aortic infusion chemotherapy

摘要

From 1985 to 1988 five patients with advanced penile squamous cell carcinoma were treated by intra-aortic infusion chemotherapy. After treatment three patients achieved complete remission. They are living disease-free 53 months, 45 months and 17 months after therapy. The response of the tumor occurred early in the first day both grossly and microscopically. Clinically, the shrinkage of the mass is most obvious by 1 week after initiation of therapy. The mass dissappeared completely after 1 month and the wound healed completely during the 3rd month after therapy. Microscopically, the most obvious changes occur between the 4th and 7th days after initiation of therapy. All the cancer cells had disappeared microscopically by the 14th day.
