Sit-to-Stand Time Measurement System Based on Eyewear Device for the Elderly

摘要

The duration of the sit-to-stand (STS) motion is crucial for assessing the risk of falls. This paper presents a method of measuring the duration based on an eyewear device. To detect the transition from sitting to standing, a random forest model is conducted. The method is verified by 53 real STS motions from 22 elderly subjects. The error between the real record and the model measurement achieves an average of 0.416s and a standard deviation (SD) of 0.396s, respectively. The result indicates that this method can measure STS time accurately for fall risk assessment.
