摘要

The surface properties of long chain alkyl crown ethers (I), one of the most typical crown compounds, are investigated and compared with those of the corresponding open chain compounds (III), i. e. , homogeneous alkyl substituted polyethylene glycol, and N-alkyl monoaza crown ethers (II). I shows lower cloud point, far lower c. m. c. , and higher free energy change of adsorption ( DELTA G) than II. The higher steric effect of rigid ring structure for I compared to III can be recognized by the adsorption area at the air-aqueous solution interface. It can be concluded from the surface properties that I shows lower hydrophilicity than II due to the existence of nitrogen atom in the crown ring.
