N2 - We have prepared and studied the T′-structured LaLn1-xCexCuO4 (Ln = Nd and Gd) compounds. For Ln = Nd, superconductivity was observed over dopant concentration from x = 0.1 to x = 0.16, with Tc/max = 22 K at x = 0.1. Incorporation of La into the Ln site of the Nd2 CuO4 system enlarges the Ce-dopant concentration range over which superconductivity is achieved and provokes a shift of the highest transition temperature towards lower Ce concentration. For Ln = Gd, it makes the maximum solubility significantly increase from x = 0.15 to x = 0.225. No superconductivity was observed over the entire solubility range in the Gd system.
