The Impacts of Bus Priority Signs on Energy and Emissions

摘要

Urban areas often face traffic congestion during rush hour. To solve this situation, the Tainan City Government in Taiwan introduced a bus priority signal system to reduce bus travel time and improve bus services. This study aims to analyze the energy saving and CO2 reduction effects of the real-time traffic signal control system. The results of this study found that bus energy efficiency improved with a maximum reduction of 32.9% in energy consumption, and carbon emissions were reduced by approximately 42,940 kg per year.
