The Registration-based Scheduling for Avoiding Collision using the Triggered RAW for IEEE 802.11ah

摘要

The Restrict Access Window (RAW) mechanism devised in IEEE 802.11ah can reduce the collision occurrence for channel access. The main idea of the RAW mechanism is to divide stations into some sub-groups such that only a sub-group of stations are allowed to access channel at the same time. Although the possibility of the collision is decreased, the collision still may happen. The reason is that the Access Point (AP) cannot know which stations have uplinked data to send and thus the transmission of uplinked data becomes spontaneous. That is, AP cannot know and schedule uplinked data's transmission in advance. This work proposed the Registration-based Scheduling for Channel Access (RS-CA) method that adopts the Registered Backoff Time (RBT) mechanism and the Claiming RAW mechanism to let AP know which stations have spontaneous data to transmit and thus AP can schedule these stations' channel access based on their RBTs in advance to avoid collision. The performance evaluation results shown that the proposed RS-CA method can eliminate the collision and improve the performance of transmission throughput and transmission time.
