Travel time prediction models with reliabilities for Urban Arterial Streets

摘要

Predictions of travel time and reliabilities for urban arterials are important issues in advanced traveller information systems (ATIS). The travel time reliabilities are required to ensure smooth travel of drivers and avoid serious delays. In this research, five travel time prediction models, including Bureau of Public roads function (BPR), conical volume-delay (CVD) function, Webster-delay model, Skabardonis-Dowling (SD) model, and traffic flow model, are tested and a model-based travel time reliability model is propose to estimate travel time reliabilities. The empirical and historical data, including travel time and signal timing data from survey and historical flow and speed data from vehicle detector (VD), are used to predict and analyze travel time.
