Trench stability analysis

摘要

A three-dimensional limit equilibrium analytical method for the stability analysis of slurry-filled diaphragm-wall-trench in sand is presented. A critical shell-shaped slip surface for the soil mass flanking the trench is chosen according to the minor soil arch principle. Arching effect is considered for determining both the slip surface and soil pressure. Base on force equilibrium, the safety factor is computed by iteration for the agreement of two ratios, including the ratio of the slurry pressure to the required lateral pressure and the ratio of the internal frictional angle of soil to the mobilized frictional angle. Parametric studies on trench length, internal frictional angle of soil, ground water level and slurry level were performed. Analytical results indicate that shallow depth within three meters below grade is the most critical part. It is observed that the hydrostatic pressure of slurry is the most important factor to the trench stability.
