摘要

Nano-structured tungsten carbide reinforced Ni-based alloy coatings (40 wt.% WC) were prepared using high velocity oxygen-fuel spray (HVOF) method. The microstructure and phase compositions of the coatings were analyzed by means of scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, while the micro-hardness and friction and wear behavior of the coatings were also evaluated using conventional micro-scale tungsten carbide reinforced Ni-based alloy coatings as a comparison. The two types of thermally sprayed Ni-based alloy coatings had the same phase compositions. However, as compared with the conventional tungsten carbide reinforced Ni-based alloy coatings, the WC particles in the nano-structured tungsten carbide reinforced Ni-based alloy coatings were relatively smaller in size and distributed evenly, which could account for the increase in the microhardness and wear resistance of the nano-structured tungsten carbide reinforced Ni-based alloy coatings.
