Ultrasonographic diagnosis of bowel herniation after laparoscopic salpingectomy: Report of a case

Herniation of the bowel or omentum through a laparoscopic incisional wound is an uncommon complication, the diagnosis of which is usually made under laparotomy. Herein is reported a case that was diagnosed by ultrasound as bowel herniation resulting from an incisional wound, eight days after laparoscopic salpingectomy. The clinical picture presented in this case suggested ileus. The final diagnosis was confirmed by mini-laparotomy. By using a useful modality, ultrasound imaging, an early diagnosis of incisional hernia could be made to prevent the necrotic change of incarcerated bowel loop.
